If a child needs extra support at school due to mental health issues, Stirling Council can help in a number of ways.
Additional support for learning
Children who are experiencing mental health issues can get specialist support that’s tailored to meet their individual needs. This includes support to help them:
- manage episodes of mental illness
- return to school after a period of mental illness
When they develop this kind of support, schools will always involve parents and carers.

School counselling
Children in Stirling Council schools who are aged 10 to 18 can get therapeutic support from our school counselling service. Counsellors offer children and young people an opportunity to explore and understand their difficulties in a safe setting.
