Flood protection schemes are put in place to protect properties, business, and other key assets from the risk of flooding from rivers, surface water and coastal impacts. Designs can vary depending on suitability for the location in question and the type of flood risk. Stirling council has commissioned consultants to investigate the viability of four river flood protection schemes in vulnerable locations throughout the council area. These are:
Three of these schemes have been nationally prioritised for flood risk reduction. All four sit within potentially vulnerable areas, which are also designated nationally for more information on this see the Forth Local Flood Risk Management Plan.
