Willie Ferguson (Scottish National Party) was elected tonight (Thursday, 5 December) to represent the area (Ward 6) on Stirling Council.

The electorate was 8,754 and the number of ballot papers received was 1,903 giving a percentage turnout of 21.7%.
Caroline Sinclair said: “I would like to say a huge thanks to all our staff and partners, led by the governance service, who helped deliver the Stirling East by-election.
“Elections involve a lot of careful planning and preparation and teams across the Council have worked together to ensure the processes have run smoothly and successfully.
“Local government decisions impact on every aspect of people’s lives, so it is important that citizens engage in the democratic process – thanks to everyone who participated in this election.”

Christopher SPREADBOROUGH – Scottish Liberal Democrats; 55
Jennifer URE – Scottish Conservative and Unionist; 230
Willie Ferguson was elected at Stage 7. There were 22 rejected ballot papers. The quota of votes for a candidate to be elected was 941.
