Works to repair and reinforce the retaining walls to Blane Water Bridge on the B834, a key artery between Killearn and the village of Croftamie, were concluded a week early allowing it to reopen to traffic.
The road on the bridge, which was closed on 16 July, has also been resurfaced and a new barrier installed, offering improved protection to the bridge masonry and to road users.
The £310,000 project is one of 72 taking place across the Stirling area as part of the council’s commitment to maintain and upgrade its vast road and footway network that stretches more than 1,000 km.
The works that are planned across 2024-25 are funded through the Capital Roads Infrastructure Improvement Fund and comprise of road and footpath surfacing works in addition to drainage works and structural reinforcements.

Environment, Transport and Net Zero Convener, Cllr Jen Preston said: “Blane Water Bridge is a crucial crossing for local communities and other commuters which is why it was prioritised for investment this year as part of our roads programme.
“We would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience and understanding during these safety and improvement works, as well as our staff for getting the project completed ahead of schedule.
“We are responsible for a significant road network of over 1,000 kilometres across urban and rural areas so it’s our largest and most visible community asset. Completing vital projects such as this helps to keep our communities moving, supports economic growth and secures a wide range of other benefits for everyone across Stirling.”
