'Opportunities for local learners'

Children and Young People Convener Cllr Danny Gibson said: “We’re committed to promoting Scottish Gaelic as one of the country’s three official languages. Taking part in initiatives such as World Gaelic Week offers an opportunity for local speakers and our young people to celebrate the role the language plays as an important part of the fabric of the nation.

“Our venues and libraries offer a platform for residents to engage with the Gaelic language while our provision of Gaelic Medium Education at Rivserside Primary School and Wallace High School is engaged with enthusiastically by pupils with a high level of attainment.

“Anyone who has an interest in the language should come along to the Community Fun Day on Sunday 2 March to enjoy a plethora of activities and to check out the local organisations that encourage learning and speaking in Gaelic.”
