Cllr Kane has represented the Stirling East ward on the council since he was first elected in May 2017.

In May 2022, he was appointed as Council Leader. He stepped down from the role earlier this month after being elected as an MP in the recent UK General Election.

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Margaret Brisley said: “Chris worked very hard to represent the interests of his community and the people of Stirling during his time as councillor and Council Leader. I know it was a job he thoroughly enjoyed and was honoured to do.

“I would like to thank him for his efforts over the past seven years and I look forward to collaborating again with him in the future in his new role on matters where we have shared objectives.”

Notice of a by-election in Stirling East (Ward 6) will be published in due course on the council website and shared on our social media channels.
