Bridge of Allan PS pupils triumph in regional athletics competition

Pupils at Bridge of Allan Primary School have taken on all comers and emerged victorious as they came in first place at the P5 Sportshall Athletics regional finals.

A total of 30 pupils from the school took part in the competition at local level, winning both the Wallace learning community and Stirling schools competitions at the end of 2023. They went on to compete in the regional final in Dundee and triumph over incredibly tough competition.

Sportshall Athletics is a series of indoor sporting activities that promotes a fun and inclusive way for children to get active while introducing them to an early experience of competition in a supportive environment.

'Incredibly proud'

Fiona Buchanan, Head Teacher of Bridge of Allan Primary School said: “As a school, we are incredibly proud of these young people who have worked so hard to achieve this result. They showed great determination along the way and were a credit to themselves, their families and to Bridge of Allan Primary.

“Thank you to all staff who supported this event at a local and regional level. Thanks also to Mrs Roberts, P5 class teacher, who organised and accompanied the team.”

Children and Young People Convener, Cllr Margaret Brisley said: “This is a wonderful achievement for the pupils at Bridge of Allan Primary School who have reaped the rewards of the teamwork they have shown in each competition they’ve taken part in. My congratulations go to the pupils and teaching staff who supported them, they should be incredibly proud of themselves.”
