Bloody Scotland proves just the ticket for Stirling residents

Stirling residents will not need the sleuthing skills of Agatha Christie to seek out best value at this year’s Bloody Scotland.

Stirling residents can benefit from a 10 per cent discount on ticket prices at this year's Bloody Scotland.

A 10 per cent discount on the price of tickets for the international crime writing festival, which takes place in the city between 13-15 September, has been made available across all sales channels to people who live in the Stirling Council area.

Free standby tickets are also available to the unemployed or those on low incomes on the day of an event when there is good availability.

Stirling Council residents can access their 10 per cent discount across all sales channels by visiting www.bloodyscotland.com/take-part and providing a local address. Further details on the standby deal is available at www.bloodyscotland.com/standby.

Bob McDevitt, Festival Organiser, said: “Our thirteenth festival, kicking off on Friday 13th, will provide a spine-tingling mix of some of the biggest names in crime fiction, outstanding debut writers and well known faces from film and TV.

“We know our loyal local audience in the Stirling area will appreciate our 10 per cent discount on ticketing prices.

Thrills

“Our standby policy will also be well received, ensuring as many people as possible enjoy the authors they already love and discover some new favourites too, with more than half of the programmed writers this year appearing in Stirling for the first time.

“The weekend is always a lot of fun and we hope this year will deliver some classic thrills.”

Authors and crime writing fans will descend on Stirling from all over Europe, the USA, India, Australia and New Zealand as the city continues its 900th anniversary celebrations as a Royal Burgh.

Among the authors gracing the stage are Peter May, Ann Cleeves, Ragnar Jonasson, Richard Armitage, Louise Minchin, Frank Gardner, Abir Mukherjee, Chris Hammer, Tove Alsterdal, Irvine Welsh, Ruth Ware and Chris Carter.

A Bloody Scotland fringe event – a screening of Shallow Grave, marking the cult movie’s 30th anniversary - will also be shown at The Tolbooth on 12 September.

Stirling Council leader, Cllr Chris Kane, said: “The 2024 Bloody Scotland Festival promises to be a highlight of our 900th celebrations and we look forward to welcoming authors and crime writing fans from all over the world to one of our most loved annual events.

“Organisers have always priced tickets competitively and I know Stirling residents will appreciate the 10 per cent discount available to them to listen, and engage with, so many fantastic authors.

“The standby ticket offer is also both welcome and worthwhile, ensuring this already accessible event is truly open to all.

“Bloody Scotland is the one time of the year we eagerly welcome crime, mayhem and mystery onto our streets and the people of Stirling will encourage all authors and visitors to enjoy everything our city has to offer.”
