The Camp Place Play Park project is a joint programme between Stirling Council and Callander Community Council.
There were two parts to the project, the first, which is the junior area, was funded by Stirling Council, a £40,000 donation from the FCC Communities Foundation and nearly £15,000 of the planning gain from developer Bellway Homes.
A variety of equipment
The upgrade has provided a variety of new play equipment including a multiplay frame, a pendulum swing and a net rope climber.
The makeover has also delivered five pieces of outdoor gym equipment, including two bikes, one of which is inclusive, at which people can charge up their phones as they pedal.
A second phase of the redevelopment, funded by Viridor Credits, The National Park Green Recovery Fund, Awards for All, Callander Hydro Fund, Stirling Council and Developer’s contribution, has delivered a toddler and inclusive area.
Helping children be active
Convener of Stirling Council’s Environment and Housing Committee, Councillor Jen Preston said: “The improvements made to the playpark will provide facilities that will help our children be as active and healthy as possible.”
“The refurbishment of the playpark with a wide variety of new and improved equipment has produced a fantastic facility that I am sure the children will have a great time using.”
A facility for local kids
Treasurer of Callander Community Council Marilyn Moore, said: “The local kids are already making good use of the playpark as many of their original choices have been included in the selection of play equipment.”
FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund.
