The nursery is among the three finalists in the Early Learning and Childcare ‘Making a Difference’ category.

The accolade recognises settings that show effectiveness in transforming the life chances of its children and young people.

Fallin was nominated for its creative approaches to supporting the health and wellbeing of children, families and the local community during the pandemic.

This included capturing the experiences of children and families in a Covid-19 ‘Memory Book’, which demonstrated the power of strong, supportive relationships and how the community in Fallin pulled together during a challenging time.

Developing strong, positive relationships

Head of Nursery Denise Wallace said:” Developing strong, positive relationships is at the heart of our community nursery in Fallin.

“Staff are so very proud that this memory book allows children to reflect on some good times through these past difficult months. It really celebrates how a nursery and an empowered community have worked together to nurture their children.”

Fallin will find out if has come out on top at an awards ceremony in Glasgow on Wednesday 8 June.

Already a fantastic achievement

Convener of Stirling Council’s Children and Young People Committee, Cllr Danny Gibson said: “Being shortlisted for this prestigious accolade is well-deserved recognition for the dedication, commitment and innovative approaches of staff at Fallin Nursery during an uncertain and challenging time for families.

“It’s already a fantastic achievement to be among the finalists for this prestigious national award but Fallin would be very deserving winners and hopefully the nursery can bring home the prize.”

First launched in November 2001 by the Scottish Government and the Scottish Daily Record, the Scottish Education Awards celebrate the hard work and success which takes place in Scottish education.

The annual event recognises those who dedicate their lives to children and young people and showcases the valuable work and innovation in Scottish settings.
