The Scottish Government published details of Scottish Child Payment Bridging Payments on 30 August 2021.

We will pay £160 for Christmas to each P1 to S6 pupil who is entitled to Free School Meals due to their parent/guardian being in receipt of low income or a qualifying benefit.

The payment can be used by families for any purpose as they see fit. There is no expectation that these payments are to be used for any specific purpose.

In addition to this the Council will pay £2.40 per child, per week day, to families during the holidays, this covers the period Wednesday 22 December 2021 to 4 January 2022, so will be an additional £24.

No action is required for those already registered for free school meals.

Those who are not registered for free school meals but are now eligible should fill out a form on the Stirling Council website by 15 December 2021 to avoid any delays in payments.

Details of eligibility criteria is also available on this webpage.

If you received a payment for the Footwear & Clothing Grant/School Meals grant and your bank details have changed, please contact our Revenue and Benefits team on 01786 233210 to update your bank details.  This must be done before the 17 December 2021 or payment may not be made before Christmas.  If your bank details are the same, you do not need to take any further action.

A total payment of £184 will be paid for each eligible child and will be in your account no later than Thursday 23 December.
