Mid-market rental homes

A guide to our affordable Steadfast Homes properties, and what a tenancy involves.

What is Steadfast Homes?

Steadfast Homes is a joint venture between Stirling Council and Strevelin Homes Limited. It has a portfolio of high-quality accommodation, all let on a mid-market rental basis.

Stirling Council acts as the managing agent for all Steadfast Homes properties.

Properties

Steadfast Homes' properties are in excellent condition and in popular locations. There are developments in:

  • McSherry Court, Cowie
  • King Street, Stirling
  • Station Square, Stirling
  • Citizen Jaffray Court, Cambusbarron
  • Glendevon Drive, Raploch
  • Maritime House, Stirling

Properties are mainly 1 and 2-bedroom flats. Most have floor coverings and blinds throughout. In addition, most properties are provided with white goods including washing machine/drier, cooker/hob and fridge/freezer. There's no extra rental charge for these goods.

Rent and Council Tax

Rents are competitive compared to private landlords. Rents vary depending on size and location. One-bedroom properties range from £372 to £388 per calendar month and two bedrooms range from £423 to £499 per calendar month.

We try to keep our rents in line with Local Housing Allowance rates. Council Tax payments are not included within the rent charge and should be paid separately.

You would sign a Private Rented Tenancy agreement. This means there is no agreed end date for your lease. You must give us 28 days' notice in writing if you want to end the lease. The tenancy agreement explains our responsibility to you as a tenant, and your rights and responsibilities as a tenant. If you need a copy of the agreement in a different format or language, let us know.

Smoking

We ask that there is no smoking in any of our properties.

Pets

Pets are not permitted in our properties. However, if you have an assistance dog, such as a guide dog, call us on 01786 237679 for advice.

Anti-social behaviour

Stirling Council encourages residence to be courteous towards their neighbours and not engage in any behaviour which could be anti-social in nature. The Council will investigate any reports of anti-social behaviour and may, depending on the evidence take further action to resolve this. In some circumstances such action could affect a person’s tenancy with the Council.

If you are affected by anti-social behaviour, please report this by using the link below . If anti-social behaviour occurs out of normal hours and is urgent, you should contact Police Scotland on 101 or 999 as appropriate.

Property maintenance and repairs

As Stirling Council acts as the managing agent, our officers will:

  • make sure new tenants are settled into their properties
  • explain the terms and conditions of the lease

We'll also monitor common areas such as closes and gardens to ensure they're kept up to standard.

Repairs

Properties are maintained to a high standard. If you do need a repair you can report it to our 24/7 contact centre on 01768 404040. Emergency repairs are carried out within 24 hours. We'll make an appointment to make any non-emergency repairs.
