Public Space CCTV (this includes mobile CCTV) and Body Worn Camera data is processed for the detection & prevention of crime and public safety.
Stirling Council also operates a number of CCTV Cameras in and around its premises (and those managed by FES). These cameras are used to protect the security of our premises and our assets, as well as to enhance the safety of our staff, pupils, service users, customers and any others who visit these premises.
We may also use CCTV footage as evidence in relation to a staff disciplinary investigation or suspected criminal activity.
We may monitor and record images of you and/or your vehicle in or around Council premises (and those managed by FES), as well as images of members of the public captured on cameras in and around Stirlingshire.
Body Worn Cameras will include video and audio data of interaction between Officers and members of the public.
Data may also include names, ages, descriptions, as well as data captured in relating to criminal offences.
We are processing this personal data as a “public task” – UK GDPR Article 6(1)(e) in the public interest, to support our role in relation to prevention and detection of crime, and public safety.
We will also process the data in relation to a staff disciplinary investigation under the legal basis of an employment contract – UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b).
Images are captured by CCTV and Body Worn
cameras.
Additional information may come from Police Scotland.
Images are stored on each CCTV system. Body Worn camera images are stored electronically on the councils secure network.
Images are routinely held for 30 days, after which the CCTV and Body Worn footage is deleted, unless an incident is recorded which requires to be kept for longer e.g. to respond to a request for information or investigation of an offence.
