MINUTE OF MEETING OF KINGS PARK COMMUNITY COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY, 3 OCTOBER 2022 AT 7.30PM

Present: Stewart Small (Chair), Jen McNiven (Secretary), Gary Bell, Niall Hamilton-Smith, Jane Saunders, Willie Ferguson and Maurice Fitzgibbons.

1. Welcome and Apologies
The Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting. Apologies were as noted above.
2. Minutes of the previous meeting held on 5 Sept 2022.
Minutes were approved as an accurate record.

Written report circulated to members prior to the meeting. Nothing to feedback to PC King,
4. Matters Arising
a. Sustainable Transport
Noted that some members concerned about the possible overengineered design at the end of Dumbarton Road and how easy, or not, it will be to exit from there.
Also raised were concerns from residents regarding the current diversions, in that it could be seen as shortcut in the future, and that the 20mph is routinely ignored by drivers. Residents around Victoria Square noting an increase in volume and diversity of traffic.
Gary noted the Cycling Scotland Conference due to take place at Albert Halls next week and expecting a conversation around the Dumbarton Rd changes.
b. Positions available
Members briefly discussed the role of Treasurer and Jen to liaise with Stirling Council re available options.
5. Chairs report
Stewart covered his report from September meeting for those who were not in attendance. In respect of what we could/should focus on this coming year,
suggestions of residents’ concerns around current energy crisis and maintenance of older buildings.
Notes that local streetscape could be of interest when considered with uniformity of housing.
Discussion around how we engage with residents on these and other matters. Jen and Jane agree to look at social media options around this.

All pertinent correspondence has been circulated, nothing further to update.
7. Councillor’s Report
No Councillor present.
8. Kings Park
Nothing to note.
9. Planning
Maurice reported he has been in contact with the Planning department around safety concerns (access and overgrown vegetation) for a vacant building.
Discussion and agreement around whether members contact Council on an individual basis or a collective basis depending on situation. Jen happy to facilitate and Maurice also noted he has been in contact with the CC Enquiries team on certain issues.
Stewart and Niall reported on their attendance at the online presentation regarding the proposed Falleninch development plans.
Noted there are issues around flooding on the site, around 500 houses proposed, alongside parkland. Members initial thoughts are not fully in favour.
