Welcome, Apologies, and Conflicts of Interest The chair welcomed everyone to the August meeting. The minutes of the previous meeting had been shared prior to the meeting. There were no conflicts of interest declared.

Adoption of minutes for previous meetings The minutes were accepted and proposed by SC and seconded by CR.

Matters Arising and Actions • Targeted Food Fund – money was accepted on behalf of S4F. The Chair has been in contact with Lynne McKinnon, SC to seek guidance around the transfer of the money and responsibilities to S4F. Janice Beaton from S4F has also confirmed that the CC will be discharged of responsibilities and S4F will take these on once the money has been transferred. The treasurer confirmed that the funds have now been sent to S4F. • Noticeboards – a request has been made to SC to install a noticeboard at the front of the community centre. Clarification has been sought over the insurance required. SC have liability insurance but no asset insurance. The chair advised there are 2 options. The first is to get a |

quote from the company recommended by SC, Keegan and Pennywell or the other option is to get quotes from the open market. There was a discussion about the need to add the planters to the insurance as well as the noticeboard. CR advised he is happy to look at quotes for assets insurance. Councillor Nunn will speak to the assets team within SC about the possibility of SCE installing the noticeboard. The chair proposed several actions are required prior to the next meeting 1. Find out the cost of insurance 2. What is the timescale for installation? 3. SJW will look at options for funding 4. Seek clarification from SC if planning permission is required • Door of the community centre- The chair put in a request to SC to see if the door could be altered or replaced. He was advised that there is currently no budget to make any alterations. It was suggested that the issue of disabled access is raised with SC. • Bus service – the chair asked for comments from the local community regarding the bus service. He didn’t get a lot of responses so felt there wasn’t enough to approach McGill’s. There was a discussion about the disparity of service between Cornton and other areas of Stirling. Councillor Nunn agreed to ask for a meeting with McGill’s. • Morrisons, Cornton – It has been confirmed that the new Manager, Karen is happy for the CC to put poster in the store, however they need to current and maintained. • Planters – Once the planters are installed it is hoped that the community will help to maintain them. Councillor Nunn with liaise with Scott MacArthur regarding providing plants for the planters. |

Interim Secretary election The chair advised that there is currently no Secretary due to the resignation of Anna Johnstone. The hope is to be able to appoint an interim Secretary until the AGM. SM proposed SC and this was seconded by RC.

Co-option of new member Since the last meeting Patricia McCormick has resigned from the CC. The chair was keen to thank her for her service. He highlighted that this left 5 Community councillors. There was a discussion about the process to co-opt a new member and the need for completed forms to be received by 18th September to allow the new member to be co-opted at the September meeting. The chair advised that he isn’t available for the new meeting on 25th September therefore it was agreed that the meeting would be moved forward to Wednesday 2nd October. |

Residents’ Voice There were 4 local residents present at the meeting and they were keen to highlight 2 main issues: The first was issues with weeds, moss and grass not being maintained which they feel is leading to an increase in vermin in the local area. There were concerns raised about the area behind Strathmore Drive. Councillor Nunn agreed to go and view the area along with the chair. |

There are ongoing issues with speeding around Cornton but particularly in Adamson Place and Strathmore Drive. There are also still areas where the road markings need renewed including the junctions at Ruskie Road and Strathmore Drive. There was a discussion about the need for an assessment to look at traffic calming measures.

Police Report No report was received; SM and SC did meet with the local officer Joshua Copes recently and he advised that he was keen to be involved with the CC however in general his shifts don’t align with meeting times.
The chair went over an overview of the discussion both himself and SC had with PC Copes. • He is aware that the current format of the police report isn’t helpful • There are some challenges checking the report • There are plans to change the format of the report • There is a new Inspector who is keen to engage with communities • The police are keen to know about community events that they can attend. • He also emphasised the importance of using Crimestoppers to report local crimes.

Chair’s Report • Forth climate recently held an event which CR attended • Cornton out of school care are keen to work with the CC. Wallace High school are also keen to reconnect. The chair hasn’t has the opportunity to reach out to the Primary school yet. It was proposed that Wallace High and Cornton Primary school are invited to the next meeting. Councillor Nunn suggested that it would be worthwhile finding out which local councillor is the elected member for education. • Ongoing issues at Westhaugh due to the collapse of the house builder Stewart Milne. A public meeting was held last week with a view to setting up a tenant association.

Treasurer’s Report The treasurer provided an up to date statement of the accounts to the Chair.
• Karen Kiowski has donated all her £100 payment back to be used for the garden fund. • There has been no update from Artlink. The chair will chase this up. The mini binos have been paid.

Planning and Licensing report The main items over the last month are as follows: • River wynd planning application approved • 27 Johnstone Avenue a request has been made for disabled parking. There were no objections raised. |

Elected Councillor’s Report Councillor Nunn provided an update • Pavement parking there are ongoing issues with vehicle causing obstructions. Councillor Thomson is already dealing with this issue. • Historic Environment Scotland plan to make changes to the Old Bridge to make it more accessible for wheelchair users, cyclists etc. Any changes will keep the look in line with the original.

AOCB • Castlerock were invited to the meeting, but no one attended • There was a discussion about the previous minutes where the issue of the removal of the dog waste bin in Strathmore Drive was raised. Councillor Nunn will chase this up.
