Come along and join us at Central Library as we introduce our new Stirling Makar. This will be a relaxed and informal opportunity to meet our new Makar, listen to them perform, and ask any burning questions as part of the post-show Q&A.

The announcement on who has been appointed new Stirling Makar will be made on Monday 3 February. Keep an eye on the Stirling Council communication channels for further details.

Come and listen to debut author Tom Newlands talk about his book Only Here, Only Now. This book was picked by the Guardian as one of the Fiction books of the 2024, and was also longlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize.

Tom Newlands is a neurodivergent Scottish author living in London. He is the winner of a London Writer’s Award and a Creative Future Writer’s Award. In 2021 he was selected for New Writing North’s ‘A Writing Chance,’ which aimed to showcase the most talented writers in the UK from under-represented backgrounds. Only Here, Only Now is his first novel.

'Siren Calling' YOU. Poet, Musician and Publisher Linda Jackson invites you to join her in  Stirling Central Library for the launch of  'Siren Calling' and extracts from Siren Wild in Me (memoir 2). Linda will be introduced by Lesley Benzie, plus guests.

Linda Jackson is a writer of songs, poetry, memoir and prose. Her poetry includes ‘The Cabinet’, ‘Wanderlust Women: Three Poets’ and ‘Wanderlust Women: Extra Baggage’. Her poetry is included in many anthologies, including New Writing Scotland and Flight of the Dragonflies and her next collection will be out in early 2024.

Alastair Chisholm is an award-winning children's author published by Nosy Crow, Walker Books, Hachette, Barrington Stoke and more. He is the author of the sci-fi adventures I Am Wolf, Reek, Orion Lost, Adam-2, and The Consequence Girl, the Dragon Storm series of young fantasy novels, and picture books The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears and Inch and Grub, amongst others.
