Balquhidder Glen Road at Balquhidder Village the event
route turns left parallel to the Loch Voil then turns left
again taking the back road to the village of Strathyre
(none of these roads are classified) As runners
approach Strathyre then turn left running back towars
the main road, over the Bridge and then left again onto
the cycle route 7, the section on roads amounts to 5.5km
approx.. The rest of the half marathon route and the
entire 10k route is on cycle route 7. These roads are all
very quiet and local residents have been advised of the
event taking place.

The event starts from McLaren High School, Mollands Road, Callander. The proposed route will see runners leave the school car park and turn right, running along the road for approximately 200 metres. Runners will then turn left, off Mollands Road and proceed on to a Forestry Commission path. It is only this 200 metre stretch, which we require the road to be closed temporarily for. Runners will start en masse from the school and be through the 200 metre section in a maximum of 2 minutes. We would propose to close the road between the roundabout where the A81 and Invertrossachs road meet on the north side of the route and the mini roundabout where the A81 and Lubnaig Drive meet on the south side of the route. As soon as the final runner is off Mollands Road the road will reopen for normal traffic usage. The road would be closed for a maximum of 2 minutes.

The Killin 10K will start at Breadalbane Park and head west towards the Dochart Bridge along the Main Street (A827). After crossing the bridge, runners will turn on to a private farm road (permission has been granted by the landowner) and then on to a cycle path, taking runners back into the village via Lyon Road. The route will then go east out of the village towards the Bridge of Lochay hotel and take the first turning (left) up Glen Lochay. The route will loop up Glen Lochay to the Hydro station before returning to the village on the other side of the Glen. Back at the A827 participants will turn right, run back into the village and the event will finish in Breadalbane Park

The section of the event that is on the road starts from Mhor 84 hotel (near the A84) and goes down the Balquhidder Glen Road. At Balquhidder village the event route turns left, parallel to Loch Voil, then turns left again taking the back road to the village of Strathyre (none of these roads are classified). As runners approach Strathyre they turn left running back towards the main road, over the bridge and then left again on to cycle route 7. The section on roads amounts to 5.5km approximately. The rest of the half marathon route and the entire 10K route is on Cycle Route 7. These roads are all very quiet and local residents have been advised of the event taking place.

The route will then go east out of the village towards the Bridge of Lochay hotel and take the first turning (left) up Glen Lochay. The route will loop up Glen Lochay to the Hydro station before returning to the village on the other side of the Glen. Back at the A827 participants will turn right, run back into the village and the event will finish in Breadalbane Park. The road closure is only from the park gates to the Falls of Dochart Inn, approximately 600m. FINISH
