About
The original cemetery at this site was part of the Holy Rude Kirkyard. Its oldest identified headstone dates back to 1579.
Over the years, the following cemeteries were added as extensions:
- Valley — in 1857–8
- Mar’s Wark — shortly after the creation of Valley Cemetery
- Ballengeich — in 1888
- Snowdon — in 1924
An area known as the Drummond Pleasure Ground was also established in 1862–63.
Together, these cemeteries are known as the 'Old Town Cemetery'.
