The positive report followed an inspection of Drymen Primary School and Nursery Class in May this year.

Inspectors from both Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate jointly visited the school and nursery in May this year and highlighted multiple areas of strength and good practice across both settings. As part of this, inspectors spoke with children, parents, staff and management.

Drymen Primary School and Nursery were given evaluations of ‘very good’ and ‘good’ across all four quality indicators from the national framework:

  • Leadership of Change
  • Learning, teaching and assessment
  • Ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion
  • Raising attainment and achievement (primary school only)
  • Securing children’s progress (nursery only)

Drymen Nursery was also assessed by the Care Inspectorate for its standard of care, play and learning, setting, staff and leadership receiving an evaluation of a 4 (‘Good’) and three 5’s (‘Very Good’).

'Children excited to learn and develop'

Patrick Robertson, Head Teacher at Drymen Primary School and Nursery Class said: “We are delighted to have received very positive feedback from Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate in our recent inspection. Across both the school and nursery settings, our talented staff teams work tirelessly to provide a setting where our children are excited to learn and develop.

“We are particularly pleased that our pupils' high attainment over time, their leadership skills, outdoor learning and positive relationships were recognised as key strengths. I wish to thank the whole school community at Drymen - staff, children, families and partners for their ongoing support to our school."

Children and Young People Convener, Cllr Danny Gibson said: “I’d like to warmly offer my congratulations to the staff, management and pupils at Drymen Primary and Nursery Class. The joint inspection report is a glowing endorsement of the work carried out by staff to establish a nurturing learning culture that helps each child to thrive.

“Standards are incredibly high across Stirling’s schools and early learning and childcare settings and this has been underlined once again by this well-deserved positive report.”
