In a statement to the Scottish Parliament yesterday (Tuesday, 2 March), the First Minister announced plans for more children to return to school.
In summary, from 15 March:
- All remaining primary school children (P4-P7) will return to school full-time.
- Young people in S4-S6 who are taking national qualifications will be prioritised for face-to-face lessons once these arrangements commence, but some time in school will also be planned for young people in S1-S3.
All secondary pupils are expected to return to full-time schooling after the Easter break (2-16 April) but this, along with all plans of a phased return to school, will be conditional on continued progress in the suppression of Covid-19.
A range of safety measures will continue to be in place across all schools. Social distancing of two metres and the wearing of face coverings will still be required in secondary schools for the time being.
Updated guidance will be published by the Scottish Government over the coming days and individual schools will share further information with you as soon as possible.
We know this continues to be a challenging and uncertain time for families and we thank you again for your incredible support and understanding.
