Housing repairs

Stirling Council is responsible for any necessary repairs to your home or communal spaces. Read more about your right to repairs.

When you request a repair, a member of the repairs team will get in touch to arrange a suitable appointment.

Repair standards

An emergency repair is something that might:

• affect your health, safety or security
• affect the structure of the building

Examples include:

• Severe flooding
• No power
• insecure external windows, doors or locks
• Complete loss or Heating/Hot Water

We will attend as soon as possible and within 12 hours.

If you need a non-emergency repair, fill out our repairs form.

Once we've processed your request we'll send you a text message to let you know when the repair will be carried out. If that doesn't suit, let us know as soon as you can.

This depends on the type of repair that's needed.

Emergency repair

We deal with these repairs first and within 12 hours of your request.

Priority repairs

These repairs need attention to prevent further issues or deterioration to the building but don’t pose a risk to you or your safety, such as a central heating or hot water fault.

We aim to offer repair appointments within 48 hours.

Routine repair by appointment

This is a routine repair that needs carried out before our next scheduled maintenance visit. An example might be a window or door handle that needs adjusted.

We aim to offer repair appointments within 7 working days.

Routine repair without an appointment

This is an external repair where we don’t need access to your home, such as a path repair.

We aim to complete these repairs within 20 working days.

Shared responsibility repairs

This is a repair that’s not solely the Council's responsibility. They're likely to be in shared areas of multiple-occupancy buildings where the Council isn't the sole owner e.g. a request for a new door entry system. In these cases, we need to talk with the other property owners before we carry out any work.

We aim to complete these repairs within 20 days of reaching an agreement.

Complex repairs

This is a repair that needs multiple trades or external contractors, such as rot and damp specialists or roofing contractors. The Council is responsible for the programme of work and will communicate with affected tenants.

We aim to start these repairs within 90 days.

Where Stirling Council owns at least one property in a block, we will maintain communal areas.

If you’ve spotted damp or mould in your home, we can investigate and help you fix the issue. We aim to resolve any issues with damp within 90 days of inspection.
