European Social Fund (ESF)

ESF is one of the five European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) which aims to restore and increase growth and ensure a job rich recovery while ensuring sustainable development, in line with the Europe 2020 objectives.

The 2014-2020 ESF programme is structured around specific themes, with large-scale funding allocations (minimum of €15million) known as Strategic Interventions (SIs) allocated to and administered by Lead Partners.

European Social Fund in Stirling

In 2015, Stirling Council as Lead Partner made applications to the Scottish Government as part of the 2014 – 2020 European Social Fund (ESF) Programme against two of these Strategic Intervention themes.  These were given approval in November 2015 (phase one) and subsequently progressed to phase two extension in January 2019.  The programme is funded until December 2022.
